Kira's Ouey

about 5 days after accident

Last Friday I was making mac and cheese for the boys and after the noodles were all cooked I took the pan to the sink. After I drained the water out I set the pan down to put Kira in her seat (she was crying at my feet). The next thing I knew the pan of hot noodles were on top of her (I must have knocked it down when I went to grab her). It was so scary, she screamed a scream that I had never heard before. I quickly ran cool water over it and stripped her clothes off her body. She immediately got huge blisters, I felt like the most horrible mom. I got some burn cream from the doc for 2nd and 3rd degree burns and I put it on there 3 times a day. I really hope it doesn't scar!

Poor little Kira! That looks so painful. Don't you hate it when things like that happen? Just rest assured that you are not alone...we ALL have things like that happen. Case in point...I hate to dig slivers out, so I leave them in with the hope that they'll "work themselves out"...not always the best plan. One day a couple of weeks ago, I notice something on Davis' finger...a HUGE (like the size of your pinky fingernail...so his entire finger) pocket full of puss from an infected sliver. I felt so horrible. I made Jeremiah drain it by himself and then it was a long regimen of cleaning it out and putting on antibiotic salve...yeah, I felt like a great mom.

I am sure that it won't scar. Babies skin is so much more resilient than ours. You shouldn't feel like a bad mommy...you should have seen all the stupid and careless things I have put my children through!
